Jane Joe- USMLE step 1-241

"The path from dream to success does exist, may you have the vision to find it, the courage to get onto it and the perseverance to follow it". - Kalpana Chawla. This icing on the cake, a score of 241, tops an unforgettable year of ups and downs for me. It's not a high score and I admit I was a little disappointed with it. But it's my score and with the kind of year I had, it's acceptable. I'm an Indian IMG, in my intern year of MBBS- the toughest year ever. I'm a student at one of the biggest hospitals in the country, with a patient load of thousands per day. So you can imagine that internship was extremely heavy. Earlier in 2019, I went for my 2 electives and also appeared for the CS exam (passed it). So my studies officially started from April 2019. At the beginning it was slow, I was getting acclimated to FA, which is not an easy book to read in the beginning. I supplemented it with videos such as BnB, DIT, Kaplan (Biochemistry is AMAZING than...

My step 1 experience

This group has helped me a lot in my preparation so I thought I should share my experience so that it can be useful for someone and also this is for people like me who are old IMGs and have already finished their post-graduation who feel it is impossible . A little background- I graduated in 2015 , did post-graduation in ophthalmology from 2015-2018 and came to America in January 2019. Test date - 27 Nov 2019 Test Score - 246 Score date - 18 Dec 2019 Total duration - 9 months( March 2019-Nov 2019) Hours per day - 7-8 hrs in the start and 12 hrs in the last 3 months Resources -1) Kaplan videos - for the first 3 months I went through the kaplan videos for all the subjects except patho. I did not read the notes separately at any given time. I found the videos helpful for understanding the concepts as I had forgotten after my postgraduation. But in my opinion , if the concepts are fresh ,I feel skipping the videos would be fine. 2)UWorld - I had also started solving Uwo...

USMLE step 1 Thaer Shehadeh- 251

Hello everyone, I think this is probably my first post on this forum. You guys have helped me alot throughout my study period and i would like to share my experience with you. Studying for this exam is definitely a challenge and needs well drawn-out plans and good time management. Always believe in yourself and never listen to any negative thoughts from others. Your ultimate goal is to be the best phyisician that you can be, and if you believe in that, you would definitely achieve that goal. I'm currently a 6th year medical student from Jordan. I started studying in august 2018 and took the exam in October 8, 2019. (Total study time = around 1 year) There were alot of gaps at first, but it became more consistent at the beginning of 2019 My first read was from cover to cover in the same order as the first aid book. Resources: First aid + Uworld are the most important Biochem: kaplan videos Pathology: pathoma Microbiology and pharmacology: sketchy (it...
