‎Mani Kandan MATCH 2019

Hi my dear friends.. I matched into Internal Medicine.. #match2019
If not for all the USMLE prep FB groups , i wouldnt be writing this post. I sincerely thank everyone who helped me in this journey.
I did my MBBS from ACS MEDICAL COLLEGE, CHENNAI , INDIA. Started my intense prep for USMLE on April 2016.
My credentials : Step1 223, Ck 235, CS first attempt, YOG 2016. Diploma in Family Medicine.
11 months of work experience in a private company clinic, India. 3 months work experience in Pulmonology dept in the same medical college where i graduated.
4.5months of USCE.
1 research publication in India. 4 US LORs.
Applied to 271 IM and 40 FM programs.
Got 4 IM interviews and matched.. did not get any FM ivs.
I know that I dont have great scores but i never had any regrets. I jus kept moving on with a positive attitude throughout the journey. I kept doing something without creatin any gaps in the cv.
Regardin interview prep... I badly wanted to take up one of those iv prep courses, but couldnt afford it (Mani had Money issues lol ). So I gathered all the possible questions and recollected all the interesting experiences from Med school, from my work place. So that for each question I made sure I remembered the topics which I’m gonna talk about.
Everyone suggested me to see the mirror and practice sayin the answers, but when I did that I seemed to be Fake. So I jus remebered the topics alone and delivered them during IVs, like free flow..
I would be really happy to give back to ppl in the USMLE Prep groups. I wish you all good luck. Stay positive and Keep goin with a positive attitude.

USMLE Step 1 experience - Mohammed Qussay Al-Sabbagh: 263

I’m Mohammed Qussay Al-Sabbagh, a 6th -year medical student at the University of Jordan, and I have recieved my Step 1 results a few days ago, which’s turned out to be 263, Alhamdulillah! Thus, I have decided to note down and share my experience, as I found reading others’ experiences very useful to me… This experience documentation will be divided into three sections; general take home messages, my USMLE step 1 journey, and my studying sources. I. Big misconceptions “Just because everybody does it, doesn't make it right” In this section, I’ll present some big misconceptions about Step 1 preparation, which drives students to be needlessly worried, rendering them unefficeintly anxious and distressed at all times. Before starting, ALWAYS REMEMEBR that there exists no schedule or technique that fits all kinds of medical students, which calls for the creation of your own personal approaches according to your own capabilities which no one knows for exact except for yourself!
