USMLE Step 3: Samy Ishak- 241

This is my experience:
Score 241
1st of all if you want to do really well in this exam most important 2 things to ace are :
1- biostatistics
2- CCS
I did ck very long time ago but step 1 only 4 months ago
Duration of study.....2 months
Sources of study :
1- UW ( main source ) ....2 times
2- biostatistics of UW .....4 times
3- charts and tables of ck
4- from step 1 .... classification of micro, MOA of pharmacology and nerve lesions from anatomy
5- for CCS .....UW and ccscases.com and 1st 2 videos of Archer
Assessment tests :
UWSA1 .....230
UWSA 2 .....240
Experience of the exam :
Day 1:
The most important issue is time management as unfortunately a lot of questions are super long ....I messed up 2 drug ads completely because of the time
A- 15-20 questions from step 1 ( 5 MOA, 2 or 3 classification of micro, 2 from biochemistry and 3-5 anatomy)
2- biostatistics.... major part of day 1 ....well covered in UW 3.....about 6-10 q in each block with total (40-60 questions) including 4 drug ads
3- rest of questions are ck style mainly diagnosis and management...very easy but very long scenarios
Day 2 :
1- no step 1 qs
2- no biostatistics
3- no problems in time management.... questions are much shorter and straight forward
4- tons of questions on prevention and prognosis....which unfortunately alot of them will depend on guessing
5- CCS cases ......13 cases .....all of them with no exception from UW and ccscases.com
CCS is very important to pass the exam and extremely easy to get high performance in it if you practice well
ccscases.com was much helpful for me because of the feedback which markedly helped me to improve my performance
I did my exam in 2 consecutive days with no gap in between and this is wrong as in day 2 I was extremely exhausted and did very bad in the last 2 blocks because of the mental exhaustion
U need at least 1 day break between day 1 and 2

Step 2 CK Experience (280)--vvimp

• Background: Hello everyone. This is Hasan Alarouri, a Jordanian graduate of Jordan University of Science and Technology (2017). I started my dedicated preparation for Step 2 CK during my internship, and the total duration was around 15 months. Owing to how helpful this group had been during my preparation, and the rarity of experiences similar to mine (Step 2 CK prior to Step 1), I thought I’ll have to share my experience with you. • USMLE Scores: Step 1: not done yet Step 2 CK: 280 Step 2 CS: Passed • Self assessment scores: Free120: 96% (5 mistakes); 5 months prior to exam NBME 4: 6 mistakes (offline); 4 months prior to exam NBME 7: 13 mistakes (offline); 3 months prior to exam NBME 6: 5 mistakes (offline); 2.5 months prior to exam NBME 8: 279 (online; 8 mistakes); 2 months prior to exam UWSA1: 286 (10 mistakes); 1 month prior to exam UWSA2: 274 (15 mistakes); 2 weeks prior to exam • Preparation duration and hours studied each day: The total duration was 15. MRCS PART A – EXPERIENCE

DURATION OF STUDY – 3.5-4 months (with work )  Pattern of study  Paper 1 ( Basic sciences )  Anatomy – Emrcs with NASA khan notes ( best part about these notes are he copied all the colourful pics from Snell’s anatomy along with emrcs theory ) . Make small pics for imagination of anatomical relationship .... A big chunk of questions are from anatomy , this needs to be done in a crystal clearway .. Physiology – raftry with emrcs  Pathology – raftry few topics and emrcs Pharma and micro – emrcs  I read raftry for physio complete twice , patho and micro once only  Biostatistics – emrcs  For basic sciences reading emrcs with its theory is more than enough with few references from text books to make the concepts clear  Fawzia sheets for paper one is very very very important , somehow in every session of this examination RCS is putting almost 50-60% paper from these sheets ... Don’t leave them .... Read them at least three times .... Pape...

Guidance of USMLE

Since I was so confused during the process of application for USMLE step 1 exam, I thought I should note down the step by step procedure for IMG graduates : 1. Get ECFMG ID. Log into ECFMG website and create an account with basic info. Then you will be mailed ECFMG /USMLE ID in 3-5 days. 2. Application for ECFMG certification. At this point, you will be asked to pay 125$. You will get the form 186 to download as soon as you make the payment. 3. Get your passport ready. You will be asked to notarise the form 186 via notarycam. The procedures are well mentioned in the website. You need to upload the first page of form 186 and copy of your passport in the notarycam website. You will be asked to get an appointment for notarycam after you upload these documents. 4. Notarycam personnel will fix an appointment as per your convenience. Keep your passport handy. It will last for 3-4 minutes. It is very simple step. The personnel will verify the passport and your basic informati...
