Rodgers Moe'n USMLE MATCH

Ok let me give my 2 cents and match experience.it might be very different for most people here but please do gather all that you can.
I Matched in IM Categorical(Howard University Hospital,@ the Nations Capital-this was my first choice).
Credentials: YOG:2014 :1 PUB :NEED VISA
Step 1: 232 ; this devastated me, i worked so hard for this and felt i deserved way more.I almost gave up after this score and was planning to prepare for MRCP.By my mentor encouraged me to keep pushing ,that it wasnt a bad score, after 2 months of crying, bought my MTB 2 and started hitting hard for CK.I shud mention i lost my best friend of 14 years in a rail traffic accident 3 weeks before my step 1 exam.
Step 2CK:253 Studied for 5 months, lost my grandmother a month before the exam ,which devastated me.this was step 1 all over again.grams was my biggest cheerleader, would always ask how studying is going and how much im getting.I was soo torn apart but decided to dedicate this exam for her.I was only able to do UW2 once and ddnt get to do UW3 and CMS.I went to the exam with a heavy heart from my loss and the exam was soo difficult, i was sure i was gonna fail the test but God saw me through with what at the time for me was an amazing score. I scored >261 in all my NBMES and UWSA,but still i was content with the score.
Step 2CS: for some weird reason i did not know we had to take CS before July 15th. I ended doing the test August 2nd and results came out Oct 15th i think, which means i applied without my CS results and i wasnt ECMFG certified. This had me sweating thru my pores, because i thought i wasnt gonna get Interviews especially with low step 1 score.Weirdly enough all my interviews calls came before the CS and none came after CS -_-.
USCE/LORS: i guess this is the most interesting part.I did not have any USCE but was able to get 4 US lors. How you ask? Well my hosptal back home i Botswana(which is a southern african country, right above south africa incase you like "Bo-whatttt?") has affiliations with Harvard University, University Of Pennsylvania and University of Maryland-so we get visiting professors ever so often. So in the words of my friend "USCE came to me, not the other way round"-which probably saved me a lot of money and hustle.
INTERVIEWS: I applied to 95 programs and was able to get only 7 interviews- (University OF Central Florida-osceola, Mount Sinai-Chicago, Seton Hall Uni-Engelwood/NJ, Sinai grace-Wayne State UNI(Michigan), SUNY Dowstate and NYMC-Metropolitan)However i was only able to attend 5 of them since i had to come back home-Missed out on NYMC and Mt Sinai. All in all the interviews were great, I interviewd mostly with PDs which i liked- You get the chance to sell yourself and seal your name right there. Make sure you prepare well for interviews.Try to be different, have your own unique story- tell/teach him(PD) something he doesnt know for sure e.g. I remember at one interview i gave a little Physics lecture of Quantum mechanics ,Special and General relativity, The fine tuning of the Universe). He loved it a lot-practice that documentary voice, have him engrossed in what you are saying-be succint, deep and powerful. And When you are done be kind to help him pick his jaw from the ground😮🤣😮
#For those who MATCHED: Congrats and be ready to seal your names on the patheon of great american physicians.
#For those who did not MATCH and who are yet to APPLY:The leader of the free world seals it well when he says ""No dream is too big. No challenge is too great. Nothing we want for our future is beyond our reach."

Step 1- 255

Hello everyone, I didn’t get an extraordinary score or break any records, but I did relatively well in very little time. So, I am doing this write up because most people spend 9+ months prepping getting their 260+, have fully matured Anki decks or have a high baseline. To most of you out there without a year of planning ahead, trust me, it can be done. 70% of STEP1 is properly reading and reasoning with a few basic points of HIGH YIELD™ knowledge. It’s all about mindset. I used a minimalistic and barebones approach and basically crammed for my step 1 exam in 4 weeks. I DID “0”, ZERO memorizing. Use this guide as an idea of what can be done in very little time, if you have more time to play with then all the more power to you! Firstly, I’m an average to below average student. Crammed couple days before 90% of my school exams. Never used First Aid. My Pre-dedicated Baseline: Our school makes us take a CBSE, my correlated step 1 score was 200ish. Like 100 questions MAX complet...
