Important points Regarding ERAS application and LORs: Waqas Nawaz MD

I m feeling to upload this post in view of few misunderstandings about duration vs number of LOrs and Imp of Pak vs USA lors and their role in Eras application
1- one can only upload 4 Lors in eras no matter how much duration they cover
2- duration of Lors is important as it is the requirement of programs as 3 month or 2 month USCE ( number of Lors is not requirement of program )
3- Number of Lor is important as it seems more non biased to receive different letters from different specialities ; different hospitals and different Authors ( it attracts the program director more but not requirement of program )
4- one should keep balance of duration and number ;
Example ; from 1 st may to 31 may ; if you have two options that either u do continues 1 month under one author or u do 2 -2 week rotation in 2 different departments of same hospital or two different hospitals under two different authors; second option is better as in both cases u get :
Duration = 1 month
But in second case u get 2 Lors from 2 diff people
Now u can upload both lors on ERAS
This also increase number of Lor and avoids u to upload Pakistani lor to fill fill Eras requirement of 4 Lors
5- Many people are confused about deans letter or chairperson Lor from Pakistan ; do get them but don't upload in Eras until u don't have USA lor ; MSpE us submitted to all programs and that is what is required ( replacement of deans letter )
Question arises : y u still need them if u don't have to upload ?
This is because in your eras application or cv ; u hav to mention each m every work experience since day of grad filling all possible gaps ; there u mention that u worked as house officer under your dean in north medicine ; u should have Lor in case u are asked to prove it during interview ( very rare probability )
Otherwise ; do not upload then on Eras in place of a USA lor even USA lor is of some un related but afflicted field ( peds ; Icu medicine ; emergency med ; radiology )
6- so bottom line duration is important but try to get Max letters in same duration as it seems less biased and more versatile clinical experience
In last ; start filling your eras application by start of July ; it's better to gradually upgrade it rather writing full on last day in hurry ; many students under look the Importance Eras cv ; it is the birds eye view of everything you are doing after day if grad ; before signing it ; get it reviewed by your seniors ; it will always help u
We will arrange next google hangout regarding eras application ; Lors ; interview skills and program list in August inshallah

Step 2 CK Experience (280)--vvimp

• Background: Hello everyone. This is Hasan Alarouri, a Jordanian graduate of Jordan University of Science and Technology (2017). I started my dedicated preparation for Step 2 CK during my internship, and the total duration was around 15 months. Step 1-238

Hello guys, I want to share my experience as a gratitude for all the people that shared their step 1 journey before .For me all the stories posted in this group gave me strength to continue and became my guidelines in a process from I didn’t know anything about.  Started with Kaplan lecture notes except for pathology. Then I watched all Kaplan 2014 videos except for pathology. Then I did Pathoma and gave my first FA read along with DIT videos, it made it easier to digest the book. Then I solved Usmle Rx and jumped straight to Uworld , first pass timed random mode score 62 % and after that I made it second time 85%. I felt confident with the knowledge I had but not with my test taking skills because I made online nbme 15 with a score of 213 and a lot of silly mistakes so I decided to do Kaplan qbank timed random mode( score 77%). I felt is very strong in anatomy and physiology concepts. After that I started to make more nbmes and I realize that my weakness was test taking skill...
