Ck preparation module


So here is my journey.. Fist of all nothing i achieved but every thing is bestowed upon me by ALMIGHTY ALLAH who has given me mor than i deserve.
Duration. 6month.
Score. 265
Xam season. Oct nov 2015.
Material. Kaplan step2 ck. uworld 3month online.
It all started when I was at a tour with tableeghi jamat when i made up my mind fr usmle. B4 this i thought f doing it many times but could never gather myself fr study untill march 2015 during that visit after final prof.
I started straight with offline uworld in april2015 but my advice is to go with online. Don't do offline.. Theres a hell f difference.i already hav read kaplan in final year though i didn't hav a plan to do usmle then.i did offline uwrld med frm hard copy wen i shifted to soft copy on a seniors advice n did it xpt psychiatry n peads which i did only frm online. I dragged mtb 2 with uwrld but i personally didn't lyk mtb2 which may b cx i had gone through uwrld n kaplan already. Infections r worth doing frm mtb 3 as is non medicine part but again kaplan is superior. Som may differ esp those who have already taken step1 cx then i think mtb gives a quick access to step 2 after fresh step1 than a lengthy kaplan series..subscribed 3mnth uwrld but did only 20% in 1.5 mnth cx it was Ramazan regretted nt taking notes then but ALHAmduLillah it didn't affect d outcome. Took nbme6 offline 232..completed uwrld quickly in nxt 1.5 mnth taking notes separately..nbme4 online in sep 252. Wanted to take d xam but a freind f mine advised nt to hurry in manic situation. So i confirmed d date with prometric n started reading notes after eid ul azha. Took uwsa n scored 265 which is also my actual score ALHAmduLillah.
In d end worth doings.
1.do online uworld
2.kaplan esp., psychiatry, surgry,peads,obs gyne.. Kaplan peads without lectures n kaplan obs gyne with lectures r awsome though peds is difficult to handle fr frst tym cx f its ryting style.
3.keep in touch with Allah.
NOTE. I also did pathoma and behavioral science frm kaplan. 
STEP 1 EXPERIENCE
First of all, nothing I achieved but everything is bestowed upon me by ALMIGHTY ALLAH who has given me more than I deserve. الحمد لله ربّ العالمين
So, here is my step 1 experience after step 2 experience that I already shared on this helpful and inspiring forum.
Duration; 6 months. Exam season; May, 2016. Materials; Kaplan notes and videos. Uworld online 3 months (use it as learning tool and not as an assessment tool). Score; 258 ALHAMDULILLAH.
After step 2, I started my house job once again for 3 months as I did in step 2. Waiting for result and later on, in the happiness of result bestowed upon me by the Almighty ALLAH, I could not start step 1 prep till end of Nov.
As I never prepared for step 1 during my graduation because I had no intention to do steps, I had to start from scratch, although step 2 was a great help and its result was a great inspiration for me to start with a boost. I started Kaplan and later on remain stuck to. I had a grip on pathology as I never left Pathoma right from 4th yr, final yr, step 2 and no wonder I found it MOST HELPFUL book for me throughout my journey. I was very slow in the beginning as it took me more than a month to complete physio. Then I went through all books from Kaplan one by one waxing and waning. it was amidst my proposed schedule when I got frustrated and started thinking on USCE related things. Sometimes, I would think that I should stop doing this as I won’t have time to have any usce or LORS. But, then my family would help me gather my courage and have a firm belief in ALLAH as it was and is the most imp thing from my birth to now ALHAMDULILLAH. I started uworld online in Feb as I had to take exam no later than May. I completed Kaplan first read and half uworld by mid April when I took on NBME 18(256). thought it was by luck because I wasn’t sure in many questions. Continued uworld , took NBME 16 (252) 10 days later and gained more confidence. Continued uworld , took NBME15 (260) 5 days later and made my mind to take exam on no later than 18th may. Had the exam date taken about a month ago and couldn’t complete my uworld by the exam.
EXAM Day; Tough, yeah! I felt it tough. Not in exam sense but in anxiety sense as I made everything in hurry this time but it passed as usual ALHAMDULILLAH as it goes on with everyone.
Result delay of 2 months was already announced of which I was aware of. 
Got the result report on 13th July and there it was 258 AlhamduLILLAH. 
Suggestions, Do’s and Don’ts.
• If you never prepared for steps during graduation, and have made your mind in final year or shortly thereafter, you can do step 2ck before step 1 as I did. It’s not a big deal. I found step 2 very very helpful and that’s what, I think, helped me get good scores ALHAMDULILLAH in short time from scratch.
• If you are preparing from graduation or it is quite a while after graduation, I personally think, you should do step1 before step 2. But both are highly complementary to each other.
• I didn’t do FIRST AID for step 1. but, it is indeed a very very helpful book. I can’t comment more on that because I didn’t do this, because, step 2 was a lot helpful to me ALHAMDULILLAH. Esp. if you are doing step 1 before step 2, you got to do something with FA as far I think. 
• Always make a schedule before start. Although, you won’t be able to observe it strongly  but, at least you can try to fall close to that. Mark your study landmarks for start and completion of everything and have a limit in mind about each section and exam as well.
• Say prayer to ALLAH five times a day, stay connected to HIM and it’s the MOST IMPORTANT component as I would say “you can get more than 270 even without study if you have STRONG BELIEF IN ALLAH. By this I mean FIRM belief but as we are not Prophets but simple human beings, we tend to lose belief some times and do commit bad deeds and that’s why a miracle cannot happen from us and we need a medium to do everything but, again with the help of ALLAH ALMIGHTY as our efforts can go in vain if we do not fear him and ask for Help.”
• I must state here that I have always been an average student and never got any position. So, if you are an average student and think that you can’t do steps, let me tell you that it’s the biggest mistake you are going to do by believing these thoughts. Follow the point above this bullet and you are all set.

Step 1-238

Hello guys, I want to share my experience as a gratitude for all the people that shared their step 1 journey before .For me all the stories posted in this group gave me strength to continue and became my guidelines in a process from I didn’t know anything about.  Started with Kaplan lecture notes except for pathology. Then I watched all Kaplan 2014 videos except for pathology. Then I did Pathoma and gave my first FA read along with DIT videos, it made it easier to digest the book. Then I solved Usmle Rx and jumped straight to Uworld , first pass timed random mode score 62 % and after that I made it second time 85%. I felt confident with the knowledge I had but not with my test taking skills because I made online nbme 15 with a score of 213 and a lot of silly mistakes so I decided to do Kaplan qbank timed random mode( score 77%). I felt is very strong in anatomy and physiology concepts. After that I started to make more nbmes and I realize that my weakness was test taking skill...
