The total duration of the preparation was around 12 months (with a full-time job)
-Study materials:
*Kaplan Q bank (once) overall performance 77%
*UW step 2 CK (once). Overall performance 78%. Did not get time to do a second round. Only did the wrong questions in Peads, OBGYN and psychiatry.
*UW biostatistics subject review
*Uptodate; occasionally to clarify some concepts
*Did only the new CMS forms in peads, OBGYN and psychiatry
-Assessments:
*UWSA1 = 276 (one week before the exam)
*NBME8= 247 (4 days before the exam)
*UWSA2= 254 (the day before the exam)
*step1 score= 241
*Real deal= 261
-Exam day:
*Very long day and mentally exhausting. The most important thing is good night sleep the night before and plan your breaks beforehand
*Did block 1 and 2 back to back without a break. After the second block until the end of the exam I took a short break about 5-7 minutes after each block. The lunch break after block 4 was a bit longer 15 minutes. On each break, i had a protein bar and a small cup of strong turkish coffee which helped me to maintain my concentration. The prometric centre allowed me to have a bottle of water at the computer disk. Every now and gain had small seps of water which helped me not to get dehydrated.

Step 1 experience. Score : 239

Not the best score to write an experience but this is for those who are stuck around 220-230 in their assessments as I was in the same situation during my preparation. Preparation time: 10 months of dedicated preparation during internship I started preparing for step 1 during the start of my internship in March and took the step in January. I started with Pathoma videos and Kaplan lecture videos for Biochemistry and Neurology. Then did a first read of FA for about teo months ad started with first round of uworld. Very much disappointed and stressed as I made a lot of mistakes. Uw 1st pass: 46% Also did another round of first aid with Uworld 1st round And sketchy micro but was not able to retain the facts with help of sketchy. Did marked and incorrect questions of uworld 1st pass and reached around 60% correct answers. Did another read of FA and started with Uworld second round. USMLE Step 1 Experience by Dr. Arsalan Baig (240)

In the name of Allah The most Beneficent and Merciful. Just received my score of USMLE step one which came out to be 240. The main objective of writing this review wouldnot be to tell what I did correct but to pinpoint my mistakes for that might be helpful for some. I graduated from King Edward Medical Univeristy Lahore, Pakistan in march 2012 and then did one year of housejob. During my medical school I did pharmacology, pathology and specially final year clinical subjects from kaplan books and they helped me get an idea of what USMLE exam prep is about. After my housejob I started prep properly from 1st May 2013. My prep plan was very simple. I went through all kaplan books (excluding pathology) along with video lectures and did goljan along with lectures for patho. It took around 3 months.
